Established Background

  • 2001 ~ : Advanced Photonics Research Institute
  • 2006 : GIST Top Brand Project - Development of Fusion technology in Photonics and the education of high quality professionals
  • 2008 : NCRC - Interdisciplinary Education in Femto-Nano-Technology

History

  • 2006. 12 : School of Photon Science and Technology established
  • 2007. 01 : PhoST selected new students for the Spring semester
  • 2007. 02 : PhoST organized Curriculum & Course plan for the 1st semester 2007
  • 2007. 03 : Appointment for PhoST faculties and research scientists
  • 2007. 03 : The first semester in PhoST started.
  • 2007. 03 : 2007 GIST/UCSB International Workshop held
  • 2007. 04 : Top Brand Project was awarded the participation prize for the excellent case under the supervision of Ministry of Science and Technology
  • 2007. 05 : PhoST selected new students for the Fall semester
  • 2010. 04 : By integrating PhoST and Femto-Nano, Graduate Program of Photonics and Applied Physics established.
  • 2012. 01 : Changes due to reorganization of GIST, "Department of Photonics and Applied Physics"
  • 2012. 10 : Department of Photonics and Applied Physics become Department of Physics in School of Physics and Chemistry
  • 2012. 12 : Department of Physics become Department of Physics and Photon Science
  • 2013. 00 : Department of Phyisics and Photon Science was chosen to do the BK21 PLUS Research Project from the government.
  • 2015. 00 : Department of Phyisics and Photon Science was selected to operate "Science Research Center for Advanced X-ray Science (SRC:C-AXS)"
