Center for Extreme Light Applications - National Core Research Center

The center for extreme light applications (CELA) was established in Sep 2008 as a National Core Research Center (NCRC) program supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) of the Korean ministry of education, science, and technology (MEST). The mission of this center is to develop light application techniques in extreme limits, which are capable of investigating dynamics in nano-meter and femto-second regime.

Furthermore, the technique will be utilized to explore practical applications in the areas of energy, nano, and bio systems. The research in the proposed extreme optical application techniques will enhance the national capability in the science and technology in femto-second and nano-scale research, which investigates the dynamics in a atomic/molecular level. In particular, breakthroughs in the areas of nanodynamics, molecular reaction processes, single molecule imaging, and high-resolution bio-imaging, are expected as results of the center's activity.

  • 1st division : Applications of high flux, coherent synchrotron x-rays
  • 2nd division : Applications of ultrashort lasers in energy/bio technology
  • 3rd division : Development of ultrashort EUV/soft x-ray sources and their nano applications
